Who is that staring back at you from the mirror....you have your new baby and you should be thin, but you're not....you need to still lose that weight. This is no surprise; the female body after delivery will usually carry 10-15 pounds of postpartum weight, sometimes more. So what's the deal now. Don't go crying your eyes out over it; just knuckle down and start working on a plan that will give you weight loss after pregnancy.

Starting out will be difficult to get the ball rolling and lose those pounds; but you can do it with a lot of motivation, a conference with your doctor, and a good eating plan with exercises to get you moving. The driving force behind this plan is you; make it happen and put this wonderful plan into action by getting motivated and taking action.

Remember that this will take time and take effort for you to pull it off; just don't succumb to the tempting ploys of the quick weight loss gurus that want you to buy their products and turn into a slimmer, fitter you after a few weeks...that's malarkey. Don't even consider doing rapid weight loss after pregnancy because it is too much of a strain on your body and very dangerous.

You should choose a weight loss plan that takes into consideration the highs and lows of pregnancy your body has just gone through, the assault of birth, and now breastfeeding; so proceed gently and allow some healing to take place. Starting a quick weight loss plan now would be the nuttiest thing you could pull on your recovering body. Aim for 9 mos. in losing the weight here, just slowly and easily in a healthy manner. Tit for tat; took 9 mos. to get it on, then 9 mos. it is to get it off.

The baby must be fed as soon as he is delivered, so Mother Nature has devised a way for that to happen; you gain weight during pregnancy so that you have plenty of nutrition stored up physically to be given to the baby as food in the form of breastfeeding. Our genes tell us unequivocally, that the mother is the sole support nutritionally of the newborn after delivery, and she must have a sound nutritional system of her own to be able to pull that off. The weight you have been carrying now starts to come off naturally once the baby is weaned from breastfeeding. It is interesting to note that after weaning of the baby takes place, many new mothers realize very soon that a lot of their postpartum weight is dropping off significantly.

An interesting fact here is that studies on breastfeeding mothers show them burning 700 calories a day. A major source of weight loss after pregnancy it would not be, but could be considered significant if combined with other weight loss plans. To maximize your weight loss plan and get the most out of all the factors involved, you need to figure in your dietary plan and just how much exercise you are getting along with everything else.

A good weight loss plan is an adjunct to a healthy lifestyle; it helps you lose the unwanted pounds slowly and in a healthful way, it gives you a good base of sound nutrition that help keep you healthy and active, and it allows you to be able to breastfeed the baby and take care of it without getting run down or running out of steam. When you are the person in charge of a baby's life and health, what is more important than your own health; you must be in good shape or you both suffer. Try and keep your daily routine as sensible as possible, and on the healthy side as well as one that contains things you like, so you won't get bored with it and give up. Make sure you like your plan, because even if it is wonderful and worthy of praise, if you leave it sitting there and never put it to use, then you've defeated the purpose of the whole thing. Enjoy your new life with your baby; and make that possible by being careful when you put your plan into action.
