6 Quick Steps To Building Niche Websites

Step 3a : Register a domain name - Godaddy

Once you have done your keyword research, you would have a fairly good idea of what would be the main keyword for your niche website. Try to register your domain name which contains the keyword, which will help in a small way of how your website will rank in the search engines.

When looking for a domain name registrar, there are two criteria I used : competitive pricing and stability of the company. However, don't spend too much time in hunting the cheapest, as the one or two dollars difference (per year) is not worth your time, which is limited. Unless of course if you are looking at 100s of domain names to register. Stability of the company is important, as you do not want to go through the hassle of transferring domains if your registrar decides to close shop.

There are two ICANN accredited registrar that I use for my websites, Godaddy and Registerfly. I like to spread my eggs in different baskets, just as a precaution.

Technical support is important, but not crucial, as you would probably need to interact with the domain registrar minimally.

a) Godaddy

Godaddy is one of the domain name registrars which I consider cheap and good. Their pricing is very competitive, support is good, and account management panel is user friendly.

However, there have been recent events when Godaddy had to shut down some domains for spamming complaints, which were actually caused by the downlines of the domain owners. Some accused Godaddy of acting like a cyber police. I do not want to pre-judge, but as long as you have no intention to engage in spamming, then Godaddy is a good choice.
